CONNECT. REACH. GROW.
Connecting People and God | Reaching Locally and Globally | Growing as Followers of Christ
What are Sundays like? We meet Sundays at 10am.
Whether you have never been to church before, or you grew up in church, coming to a new place for the first time can be uncomfortable. I know at this point we are supposed to say things that will make it easy for you come to our church , however coming to our church will probably be different than what you would expect regardless of your back ground. So basically come prepared for something new. Our atmosphere is relaxed, casual, welcoming and friendly, so don't worry too much about what you wear, in fact pastor James is usually wearing jeans.
We are excited about our relationship with God and what we see Him doing in our lives every day. We celebrate this by joining with our band to express our thankfulness and love for God through passionate worship, which is usually in the form of loud rock style music. During worship you may see people clapping with the music or raising their hands, reflecting quietly or kneeling, and at other times you may even see somone dancing. All of these are examples of outward expressions of an internal spiritual reality that can be different for each of us. One can find these forms of praise and worship described in the Bible, but they are also common in our culture, If you have ever been to a concert or sporting event, you will feel right at home.
Usually after this part of the service we will pause for announcements of upcoming events and activities followed by an offering, (which is a time when we pass some baskets around and people who have chosen to partner with the vision of Rock Creek Church give financially by placing money or checks in the basket) There is never any pressure to give and you're free to choose wether or not would like to participate.
Following the offering we transition to the teaching time of the service. Pastor James endeavors to bring a message that is relevant, encouraging and challenging, presented in a relaxed, engaging and fun style. The purpose of the church is not to be a social club, and it is not meant to be entertainment, although those things may happen. The church is a place where we seek to encounter the presence, power and love of God. This is why we gather, and we invite you to join us, if you are longing for more in your life, if you feel like you are missing something, then we believe the Lord is stirring your heart and we would love to help you connect with Him. Come this Sunday, we have caring and trained people who are ready and available to speak with you, or offer prayer and encouragement. Our hope is, that wherever you are on your journey you will be enriched and encouraged.
