Rock Creek Leadership has prayerfully considering our response as a church to the Oregon Health Authority's recommendations for the Coronavirus Pandemic. Our Position is to conservatively follow the governor's guidelines for reopening and follow all protocols from the CDC and the OHA.

Our orientation to the Coronavirus pandemic is twofold:

1. We will stand together in faith, not bowing to a spirit of fear! We ask that you join with us in prayer against this virus and contend for the health and protection of our local community as well as our global community.

2. We will act in wisdom. It is entirely possible to carry this pandemic virus and never experience any symptoms. Because of this, we will do what we can to limit the unintentional spread of this disease.

3. For the time being, we will be doing all our services online, we also encourage virtual small groups. Governor Brown's guidelines allow for small groups smaller than 10, with social distancing or masks. the Church property is available for small groups to use with strict cleaning protocols. Small groups have also met on our lawn area where it is easy to maintain social distancing. (click here to join or lead a small group)

4. Our Food Pantry will continue to be open on Tuesdays with immediate implementation of the following recommendations and protocols:

  • Masks will be mandatory for all volunteers and volunteers who are in the at-risk category will be asked to postpone volunteering until it is safe.

  • Until restrictions are lifted we will discontinue the shopping style pantry and provide only drive-through service for our clients.

  • We will reduce our hours from two shifts to one shift from 3 - 6. (The drive-through process is faster than a shopping format so we are still able to serve just as many clients.)

For those who come to our campus:

  • Avoid touching of hands or physical contact with others. We will reduce chairs to help maintain seating space.

  • Wash your hands immediately upon arrival and/or BRING YOUR OWN hand sanitizer to use before and after your visit.

  • Hospitality Food and beverages will not be served. However, you are welcome to bring your own coffee/tea in a closed lid container.

Our Response in the Community:

As the coronavirus runs its course, the needs of our community will only increase. We want to be able to rise to the needs of our community. More people will need more food as they experience a loss of income due to illness, and work or school closures. With school closures, children who receive sometimes 3 meals per day will need to be provided for.

How you can help:

  • If you are able, please consider helping with our pantry. We expect our current volunteer availability to decrease, while the food need increases to well over our current level of 100,000+ meals per month. In addition, our elderly and/or health compromised clients relying on services from our food Pantry may need special assistance receiving food. If you are able to make food box deliveries to people’s doorsteps in our community, please let us know right away. We will need help with this!

  • We are asking our donors to continue their faithful generosity to their giving strategy as we may have lower attendance over the coming weeks, while at the same time we may be experiencing greater expenses.
